Bathtime

Hudson knows exactly how to gross out his father...just drink bath water and say "Yum-Yum".

After a messy dinner, we decided to have a bath. Hudson was given a bottle of bubbles...didn't know what it was but couldn't wait to take it into the bathtub. When I was finally able to wrestle the bottle free to show Hudson what was inside...he was extremely excited.

Peter and I took turns blowing bubbles until we both felt faint...Hudson continued to ask for "more...more...more". When we finally put the bubbles away Hudson decided to do his new dance, it's not the signature dance where his bends his needs and proceeds to bounce up & down with his hips swaying back and forth...this dance is something else. It makes us want to purchase a video camera. If anyone wants to see the video we have captured (or get a live version), you will have to come visit...it's on one of our cell phones. Hudson doesn't only dance...but he has a little song that he sings with this particular dance...it goes something like "O Me...O Me...or Nome...Nome" it's not really easy trying to find the correct word(s) to describe some of Hudson's language at this point. Anyway...it's hilarious. Dance featured below (enjoy):

Snoqualmie Falls

It was cold and wet, but we decided to head out to Snoqualmie Falls. This is Hudson's first visit to the enormous waterfall located about 30 minutes east of Seattle. He fell asleep on the way, but didn't mind that we woke him up for this amazing viewing. After seeing the waterfall we decided to check out the railway museum. Once we found the museum, we discovered that during the winter and early spring months the indoor part of the museum is closed and the weather decided not to agree with us on this particular day...wet, freezing rain/show. We ended up hanging out in a coffee shop, clearly not my choice, across the street. Hudson was thrilled for the shop had lots of Dr. Suess books to choose from. Shortly thereafter we ended up heading back to Seattle for some Thai food and a visit to the Kidsquest Children's Museum for some time with Thomas the train.

AT THE PARK

Hudson joined his cousins to check out the playground where Sam will be going to school this coming fall.

Peter & I knew Hudson would want to be just like his cousins, so we brought along his tricycle.

Hudson at School

The other day, I began to wonder if some of you might not know exactly what a 16 month old does a school. Below, I have provided you with a write-up from Hudson's teachers which details what happened on a particular day...April 1, 2008

"Hudson has many words for us lately. He tells us something new almost ever day. He says, "Up, down!" while moving his arm up and down appropriately with the words. At nap, he pointes to the photos of his classmates, trying to name them and telling them "night-night". He also makes sound effects while playing. Today in the Little Gym (school's yoga room) he delighted in rolling a very large hassock around the room saying, "Wheee!" the entire time. He was joined in by another classmate. The two boys worded together amiably to roll the hassock around the room. Great team work! As we walked to the racquet ball court he said a cheery, "Bye-bye" to people who had stopped to talk with us. He loved chasing balss in the raquet ball court. He found a small baseball to tuck in his arm in his characteristic "storage" mode of playing while he chased down the larger balls.

He was happy adding ingredients to the bread machine pan for cinnamon-raisin bread. He still likes to shake the measuring spoons full of sal or other ingredients sending them flying, so we gave him a little help.

We were interested to see his response to a provocation that I set up with two of the shorter cardboard cylinders in our classroom. I stood the cylinders up and added blocks on top of them. He was very quick to see the possibilities in building with the cylinders and blocks. He immediately began to stack blocks as high as he could reach. When they fell down, he would say, "Da Boom!" and then startedt o build all over again.

Flannel board stories are one of Hudson's favorite things at the moment. He asks for them by pointed to the story bag and saying, "Baa-baa" for the Baa-Baa Black Sheep story. He also likes Five Green Frogs and Five Little Monkeys Swinging in a Tree. The suspense of Mr. Alligator getting those monkeys-snap is very exciting to Hudson. He and his classmates will sit for one half hour listening to flannel board stories." Hudson's Teachers.

New York City

Hudson & Peter in Rockerfeller Center

Hudson loves to get attention while on the swings.

On Sunday, Hudson and Peter went back to Seattle while my mother and I hung out in New York for a few more days.

Brownie Making

Tonight, Hudson was going to hang out with his cousins, aunt KK and uncle Jeff. They always share home-baked goods with Hudson, so we decided to make brownies to share. Hudson was excited about the thought of this opportunity to make a complete mess of himself and whatever or whoever was near. As you can see from the photos, Hudson loved every part of making brownies. Unfortunetly, for you all, you will are unable to see the mess Hudson made...Peter had to put down the camera to help out...Hudson was completely covered with brownie mix, he managed to smear brownie mix up my arms and yet we still had enough mix left over to make some brownies.

With all the commotion, I didn't realize that I had added twice as much water as the reciept called for...so in the end...nobody wanted to eat the brownies.

Next photo would have been a chocolate blur.

Playing Ball with Grandpa Maz

Hudson and Grandpa Maz had a wonderful time playing catch with bouncie ball. What entertainment a fifty cent purchase at a road dinner can bring.

This game went on for anywhere from 1/2 hour to an hour.

I think I can reach it.

Opening Gifts

It's a box...I'm so excited.

Hey, look at this cover...what can I do with this?

Look's yummy...let's taste.

"Wow" -- "No No No"

Hudson was surprising good about the Christmas tree. When the light were on, he would approach the tree, point at it and say "Wow"...shortly there after, he would move his hand a little closer, look for mommy or daddy and say "No, No, No". Every once in a while he would then actually touch the tree...but he was pretty good.

Grandma and Grandpa Maz were thrilled with the way Hudson handled himself with the Christmas tree.
